Apply for the DPA

So many car parks have fantastic accessible facilities and provide great customer care however, until now, they were not formally recognised.

Those Managers and Operators that want to meet disabled people’s needs, reduce Blue Badge abuse, show compliance with the parking industry’s best practice then they are welcome to join an independent not-for-profit scheme run by the charity Disabled Motoring UK and managed by the British Parking Association.

If you feel that your car park can benefit from being awarded with the DPA and promoted nationally then contact BPA by emailing dpa@britishparking.co.uk .

How  car parks get accredited?

Joining forces with the British Parking Association means that DMUK is able to utilise experienced Area Managers to assess off-street parking facilities to the DPA criteria.
Any off -street car park run by either a local council or private operator can benefit from a visit from an Area Manager who will go through the criteria required to achieve the DPA. They will also offer further advice and guidance on how to achieve a more accessible environment and make facilities less susceptible to disability claims. Sometimes only minor changes are required.

What happens next?

All applications are approved by Disabled Motoring UK and each successful car park will receive a certificate of the accreditation and will appear on the DPA Find a Disabled Friendly Car Park search tool.

If you want to purchase the DPA signage then please contact dpa@disabledmotoring.org .

Those car parks which do not meet the required standard will be sent detailed reasons why they did not achieve the DPA and will be re-invited to apply if they make the changes highlighted by the assessment feedback.

We hope you decide to apply for the DPA and help us to improve car parks for disabled people nationwide.

British Parking Association is managing the accreditation on Disabled Motoring UK behalf and they will apply an appropriate fee.
