DMUK is delighted to hear that its Disabled Parking Accreditation (DPA) is a finalist in two categories at this year’s British Parking Awards.

The DPA is a finalist in the Parking in the Community Award and the Parking Partnerships Award. The Parking in the Community Award looks to recognise a initiatives within the parking sector that have engaged with and supported their local communities. The Parking Partnerships Award recognises the growing importance of organisations working together in the parking sector. For this award DMUK is jointly nominated with the British Parking Association who now administer the DPA on behalf of DMUK.

DMUK Chief Executive, Graham Footer, said: “Getting the DPA to where it is today has involved a lot of help and support from many people and organisations. We are very proud of the progress we have made so far and hope that the scheme continues to grow. The charity is delighted to be a finalist in two categories at this year’s British Parking Awards and we are honoured to be recognised alongside the other deserving nominees. We look forward to the announcement of the winners at this year’s event and have our fingers crossed that the DPA will be amongst them”

Disabled Parking Accreditation

To be approved for the DPA means that owners/operators choose to adopt an active management strategy to ensure that there is enforcement and appropriate provision of disabled bays in place, as well as adequate facilities for their disabled customers in their car parks. The DPA is open to local authorities and private operators.

All car parks that are awarded the DPA are listed on our website www.dpaccreditation.org.uk where you can enter a postcode or town name, in the ‘Find a Car Park’ feature, to locate your nearest car parks. The website includes shopping centres, retail parks, hospitals, as well as centrally located car parks to access towns and cities. More car parks are being added every week, so if there currently isn’t a car park in the area you are visiting please continue you check in the future.
